How to install Gen III Dodge Viper door panel trim
Gen III Door Panel Trim
Tools needed
Staple gun and 1/4” staples
1/16” drill bit
7/64” drill bit
Glue (optional)
Measuring tape
Tip
If using an pneumatic staple gun make sure you are using a regulator. On scrap piece of cardboard, make test staples so that the staple gun is able to operate at the lowest PSI possible, helping to ensure the new trim piece won't splinter.
How-to Guide
Step 1
Using a ¼” staple (arrow #504), Mark the trim pieces where the staples will be used to ensure proper spacing for pilot holes to be drilled. Plan to use a total of 8 staples per piece, 2 in on the front most section, 3 in the middle section, and 3 in the rear section of the trim spacing them evenly.
Step 2
Using a 1/16” drill bit, make the initial holes using a very slow speed. After all the holes have been drilled with the 1/16” bit switch to a 7/64” bit and drill in the same spots enlarging the holes for the staples.
Step 3
(Optional) Apply glue to the trim in the valley where the trim piece sits onto the door panel.
Step 4
Place trim onto the door panel and apply the staples. Remove the retaining clips from the old trim and install them to the new trim. Install the door panels to the vehicle.
